Overview: AI tools in radiation oncology are rapidly evolving, with growing clinical deployment across imaging, planning, and decision support. However, their use is now closely tied to compliance with increasingly strict regulatory frameworks such as the EU AI Act, EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR), as well as FDA guidelines further afield. This session will focus on the regulatory landscape for AI in radiotherapy, with emphasis on what clinical physicists need to know to ensure quality and compliance. Topics include risk classification, clinical evidence requirements, post-market surveillance, and the role of physicists in supporting conformity assessments. The goal is to provide attendees with a clear understanding of how QA intersects with legal and safety obligations, and what actions are needed to ensure that AI systems are fit-for-purpose in a regulated environment.

Overview: The session provides a comprehensive overview of how vendor‑-provided technologies in radiotherapy can be safely introduced and maintained in clinical practice. It discusses key challenges and opportunities related to linear accelerators, treatment planning systems, patient‑-specific QA measurement solutions and AI‑-based tools. Attention is given to vendor‑-provided commissioning and pre‑-configured systems, the role of long‑-term QA data, and the need for independent and risk‑-based validation. By highlighting continuous quality improvement, sensitivity to clinical complexity and lifecycle management, the session illustrates practical approaches to safeguarding patient safety in increasingly automated radiotherapy workflows.

Overview: Online adaptive radiotherapy challenges clinical teams across multiple aspects, including implementation, resources, and education. While continuing professional development is well addressed, the question of initial RTT education remains open. In this debate, four international expert RTTs will explore whether educational programmes require a major overhaul to support the implementation of this major innovation. Rianne de Jong and Claudio Votta will argue in favour of a substantial overhaul, emphasising that online adaptive radiotherapy requires RTTs to acquire new and advanced skills. Opposing them, Helen McNair and Winnie Li will advocate for targeted adaptations within existing frameworks. The stage is set for a stimulating debate, but who will present the stronger arguments? The session will provide a concise overview of emerging techniques, technological progress, and clinical evidence shaping the future of brachytherapy, emphasizing its continued relevance within precision radiation oncology.
