Biography

Short Biography – Brendan McClean, Ireland Current position since 1995 is Director of Physics at St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network in Dublin, Ireland. Prior to this appointment I worked at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, Canada as a radiotherapy medical physicist. I have an Adjunct Professor position, co-supervise PhD students and lecture on the Medical Physics MSc in the School of Physics at University College Dublin. I teach courses in graduate and undergraduate physics and for the Specialist Registrar Fellowship training programme. I am a course director and part of the faculty of the ESTRO Dose Modelling and Verification course since 2008 and the ESTRO Risk Management and Patient Safety course since 2018. I am the programme director for the CAMPEP accredited Irish Radiotherapy Physics Residency programme. Since 2005 I have served as physics lead to the National Cancer Control Programme in Ireland. I am a Registered Radiation Protection Adviser and I am Chairman of the St Luke’s Research Ethics Committee. I am a member of the European School for MPE Board and I am Chair of the EFOMP Scientific Committee in 2021. Qualifications: PhD, MBA, Registered RPA, MCCPM
