Overview: Radiation oncology professionals have a strong and diverse training focusing on our core disciplines. Methodologies borrowed from other fields hold unique potential to advance our field, yet, we do not receive any training on how to use these methods. This session will explore various and innovative methodologies, including qualitative and survey-based research, and review their role in changing clinical practice. Aimed at early career professionals and researchers, speakers will share tips and tricks to get started with methods outside of your own comfort zone and achieve real impact with research data.

Overview: This session explores how oncology research can be communicated effectively beyond academia, with a focus on patient-centred engagement. Through three complementary perspectives, it highlights the role of patient ambassadors, lived patient experience, and practical strategies for reaching non-specialist audiences. Speakers will discuss how to make complex science accessible, build meaningful connections with diverse communities, and foster dialogue rather than one-way dissemination. Emphasis is placed on translating research into real-world impact, inspiring trust, and ensuring that patient priorities shape research agendas. Designed for early-career researchers, the session offers both reflection and practical tools to strengthen communication and engagement.
