Should the majority of radiation treatments after breast conserving surgery consist of maximum 5 fractions?

In this not-to-be-missed clinical debate, attendees will join one of the most exciting area of current international challenge concerning postoperative radiation therapy for patients with breast cancer following breast conserving surgery. Existing evidence supporting and opposing the motion from moderate towards ultra-hypofractionated schedules, consisting of maximum 5 fractions for most of the patients, will be thoroughly discussed. Benefits and shortcomings of the shortened fractionation schedules will be presented taking into consideration indications and target volumes of postoperative radiation therapy, radiobiology, tumor control, early and late adverse events, radiation therapy practice barriers and concerns, socio-economic factors, and personalized patient care.
