Biography

I am a passionate doctor devoted to international networking, mentorship, and optimal patient care. Associate professor at the Department of Experimental and Clinical Biomedical Sciences “M. Serio” of the University of Florence (Florence, Italy), I primarily work as clinical and radiation Oncologist since 2011 at the Radiation Oncology Unit of the Oncology Department of the Florence University Hospital (Florence, Italy), where I am head of the outpatient clinics unit, clinical trials unit, and clinical oncology group of the breast cancer multidisciplinary team. Active member of ESTRO, EORTC, and the Italian Association of Radiotherapy and Clinical Oncology (AIRO). I am actively involved in ESTRO and ESTRO Board member (2023-2026), ESTRO Guidelines Committee (former ACROP) and teachers course faculty, ESO, ESMO and EORTC network; currently I am steering committee member of the EORTC breast cancer group and of the radiation oncology scientific council (ROSC), founder of the clinical oncology breast cancer group (COBCG) cooperative network. Authors of over 230 peer-reviewed international papers (H-index 28) and principal investigator of several phase 2-3 trials, my main fields of interest are breast cancer, multimodal treatments, oligometastatic disease, health-related quality of life, cardiac toxicity prevention, hypofractionation, partial breast irradiation, clinical trial research, equity/diversity/inclusion in cancer. Father of an amazing daughter, outside of work I love travelling, reading, playing tennis, and discovering cultures.
