EPTN brain tumour workshop

This ESTRO/European Particle Therapy Network (EPTN) workshop is meant to be an extension of the teaching course in Particle Therapy. The workshops will have focus on practical issues in work-flow, immobilization, imaging and contouring, treatment planning, image-guidance, motion management and adaptation in proton therapy and will focus on practical issues and especially on issues that differ from conventional radiotherapy. In addition, the present workshop on particle therapy for brain tumours will highlight challenges and controversies such as metal implants, distal edge effects and FLASH.

Radiation oncologists, medical physicists and treatment planners already active in the field or with at least some knowledge and understanding of principles in particle therapy. Participation in the ESTRO Teaching Course in Particle Therapy prior to the workshop is highly recommended for those who are not already actively involved in particle therapy. Max. number of participants is 30.

Workshop format:

The brain tumour workshop will be the first of a series of workshops on particle therapy.

Before the workshop, the attendees will receive CT-scans with contours and will be instructed to prepare two treatment plans for the workshop (we therefore assume that the participants have access to a proton TPS).

The workshop will consist of plenary lectures and break-out sessions reviewing the treatment plans prepared by the participants.
