Three vacancies available in the ESTRO Physics Committee
The Physics Committee aims to promote visibility and significance of clinical translational and research aspects of medical physics within ESTRO. We further work to maintain and increase the relevance of ESTRO for scientists engaged in medical physics and computer science research.
Our focus areas are to:
- Represent clinical and research medical physicists within the multidisciplinary nature of ESTRO and externally
- Organize educational activities and annual physics workshop to strengthen and promote physics research and development within European radiation oncology
- Ensure proper attention to physics research and its importance for radiation oncology at the annual ESTRO congress with representation in the Science Council
- Advise the ESTRO Education Council on the development and execution of teaching courses with a physics focus
- Develop,harmonise and recognise professional education and training of medical physics experts in Europe
- Participate in scientific and educational activities in cooperation with international partner organizations.
The Physics Committee consists of 15 core members with different backgrounds regarding clinical and research physics. The term of membership in the committee is 3 years and can be renewed once. For more information about our members and activities, visit our website (ESTRO Physics Committee).
As a committee member, you will
- work together with a highly motivated group of fellow committee members
- be a spokesperson for medical physics professionals – clinical and research oriented – in all stages of their careers
- help organize our activities, such as the annual physics workshop, develop the program of the annual ESTRO congress, act as liaison person to other professional or scientific societies or work on professional aspects of medical physics on European level.
- spend 1 hour per week on average on committee activities
Who can apply?
Currently we are looking for three new members. Eligible candidates must be full ESTRO members who have shown previous involvement in ESTRO physics activities and demonstrated a high level of engagement. We value candidates who contribute to the society’s growth and initiatives. Additionally, we aim for a diverse committee in terms of gender, professional background, and geographical representation.

Candidates will be selected based on the received applications and interviews. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a committee panel in February 2026. Appointments will be confirmed at the ESTRO General Assembly in Stockholm in May 2026.
