Dose-painting 25-year anniversary: Things to celebrate

This session will start with an introduction to the concept of dose paining and its development the last 25 years, before methodological challenges and solutions are presented. Illustrations of completed and ongoing dose painting trials will be given. Next, an overview of dose painting using prognostic and longitudinal imaging biomarkers will be presented, focusing on MRI- and PET-based studies, in particular the latest opportunities arising with the integrated MRI-Linac. The session will end with an overview of the technological developments the last 25 years and a prospect of the possibilities these new technologies will open for future personalized radiotherapy using dose painting.
