We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the MARLIN project (Medical Applications of Radiation – Learning from Incidents and Near Misses) and the publication of its final report.

This 24-months project was launched in September 2022 and completed on 31 August 2024, to support the implementation of Council Directive 2013/59/Euratom and provide a comprehensive description of the status of incident reporting. This tender was led jointly by the European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR), the European Federation of Organisations for Medical Physics (EFOMP), and ESTRO.

The project aimed to improve the reporting and learning from patient-related incidents and near misses in radiotherapy, interventional cardiology, nuclear medicine, and interventional and diagnostic radiology.

We are delighted to share that the final report, which is titled "Recommendations for reporting and learning from patient-related incidents and near misses in radiotherapy, interventional cardiology, nuclear medicine and interventional and diagnostic radiology", is now available on the European Union Publications Office website.
