Henrike Westerveld

Biography

Dr. Henrike Westerveld is a radiation oncologist at the Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. She obtained her MD from the University of Amsterdam in 2001. After some years in research and clinic, she started with her training in Radiation Oncology at the Amsterdam Medical Center (AMC), the Netherlands, in 2006. In 2008 she received her PhD. In 2011 she completed her traineeship in Radiation Oncology. After receiving a grant from the Dutch Cancer Society (KWF) she did a two years fellowship in image-guided brachytherapy in pelvic tumors. With this grant she was able to work at the radiation oncology department of the General Hospital of Vienna (AKH), Austria, and at the radiation oncology department of the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU), the Netherlands. In 2014 she became a staff member at the AMC (now AmsterdamUMC), and relocated to the ErasmusMC, Rotterdam, in 2022. Dr. Westerveld is specialized in the treatment of gynecological and urological tumors and brachytherapy in general. Her main interest is on image-guided brachytherapy and late effects in gynecological cancers. Dr. Westerveld is an active member of the GEC-ESTRO GYN and EMBRACE study group. In addition, she is the course director of the Amsterdam Brachy Course (ABC) and past-chair of the Dutch educational committee of the Dutch Society for Radiation Oncology (NVRO). She is also reviewer for different peer reviewed radiotherapy journals.
