Biography

Joel Poder is currently working at the St George Hospital Cancer Care Centre in Sydney as a Medical Physics Specialist. He is also enrolled as a part time PHD student with the Centre for Medical Radiation Physics at the University of Wollongong. He also received his undergraduate degree in Medical Radiation Physics and Masters of Science from the University of Wollongong in 2008 and 2010 respectively. His primary area of research is in-vivo treatment verification for HDR brachytherapy, particularly in-vivo source tracking. Joel also has a keen interest in the use of deformable image registration brachytherapy as well as inter-comparisons of air kerma strength measurements for both LDR and HDR brachytherapy sources. He has published over 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts and contributed to 2 book chapters, most of which are related to brachytherapy topics. Joel has been a member of the Australasian Brachytherapy Group (ABG) executive committee since 2014 and is currently the ABG representative on the AAPM Brachytherapy Scientific Committee.
