Biography

Born in 1971. Master of Science in Physics in 1996 and board certification in medical physics in 1999. 1-year research fellow at Ospedale San Gerardo (Monza) in the Medical Physics Department. From 2000-2004 junior researcher at the Department of Physics of Milan University. Since 2005, physics researcher for the Scientific Directorate (Prostate Cancer Program) at the National Cancer Institue in Milan. Main activities include development of NTCP models for the description of radioinduced toxicity with engagement in the task force of QUANTEC (Quantitative Analysis of Normal Tissue Effects in the Clinic) and in the task force of PENTEC (Pediatric Normal Tissue Effects in the Clinic), studies on the possible genetic component of radio-induced toxicity, involvement in the development and validation of clinical models for the prediction of toxicity in radiation therapy (nomograms and artificial neural networks), participation in the design and analysis of clinical trials devoted to assessment and modelling of radio-induced toxicity, involvement in the research programs of active surveillance protocols and in the research programs of Quality of Life for cancer patients. Teacher in seminars and courses on radiobiology, statistics and modelling normal tissue reactions following radiation therapy.
