Biography

Robert (Bobby) Zachariae, MSc., Dr.Med.Sci., is a professor at the Departments of Clinical Medicine and Psychology and Behavioural Science, Aarhus University, Denmark, director of the Unit for Psychooncology and Health Psychology (EPoS), Department of Oncology, Aarhus University Hospital, and National Scientific Coordinator of the Danish Breast Cancer Group Center and Clinic for Late Effects (DCCL). He has previously been a research fellow at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, USA, and visiting professor at the Centre for Medical Psychology and Evidence-based Decision-making (CeMPED), University of Sydney, Australia. Current research includes several ongoing projects evaluating the efficacy of strategies for identifying and treating late effects after treatment for cancer. Strategies for identifying late effects include large-scale smartphone applications for collecting patient-reported outcome (PRO) data. Interventions investigated include both face-to-face and digitally delivered behavioral therapies for cancer-related distress, fear of cancer recurrence, persistent pain, cognitive complaints, insomnia, and fatigue among cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. He is currently author or co-author of >330 books, book chapters, and scientific papers, which have been cited >13500 times.
