Biography

I graduated in Medicine at the University of Torino in 1998 and then completed the Residency Program in Radiation Oncology in 2002, again in Torino, under the mentorship of Umberto Ricardi. I spent a summer at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA, perfecting my skills in radiation therapy of hematological malignancies, including TBI for bone marrow transplantation. Besides my interest in hematology, I then developed special expertise in lung cancer, starting to use SBRT for primary tumors and oligometastases. In 2018 I became Head of Department at Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia, and my research interests expanded to the use of radiation therapy in combination with immunotherapy in lung cancer. Currently, I am PI of several trials in lung cancer, combining RT, TKI, and IO. From December 2023, I am Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Milan and Chair of the Radiotherapy Department at Istituto Nazionale Tumori, Milan, Italy.
