Biography

Igor Olaciregui was born in San Sebastian, Spain in 1973. He studied at the University of Zaragoza (Spain) where he graduated in Physics in 1996. Later, in 1997, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Computer Science. He also participated in two granted research projects at the Universidad Nacional del Comahue, Argentina and at the Universiteit Twente, The Netherlands. From 1998 to 2009 he worked in cutting edge companies of the embedded software industry, first as consultant for telecommunication projects in Lucent Technologies and then in Tasking and Altium where he designed and implemented real-time operating systems for a variety of hardware systems (FPGA and discrete components). In 2009 he applied for a post-doc position in the EPID Dosimetry group at The Netherlands Cancer Institute – Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital (NKI-AVL). In his first assignment, he re-wrote the in-house EPID dosimetry software solution used for pre-treatment and in vivo dose verification of IMRT and VMAT treatments. He currently holds a permanent position at The Netherlands Cancer Institute where he designs/develops/maintains software solutions in-house and in cooperation with the industry. He has been also heavily involved in research work with ten publications as main author and many more as co-author. He is a frequent reviewer and, currently, co-chair of AAPM TG-360. He is also a father of two and a basketball coach. Hobbies: wine and friends, friends and wine, arts, travelling, basketball and … many more.
