Biography

Fernanda Villegas is a medical physicist certified in Mexico (2009) and Sweden (2021). She moved to Sweden to pursue a PhD in Medical Sciences at Uppsala University. In 2016 she defended her thesis on the topic of computational micro/nanodosimetry for biological response estimation. She attained a position as a postdoctoral researcher at the same institution where she dedicated her work to develop a nanodosimetric based RBE (relative biological effectiveness) model for hadron therapy. Since 2019 she works as a medical physicist at the Karolinska University Hospital where she continues research by leading projects on the subjects of RTQA for clinical trials and implementation of MR-only workflows in the clinic. She has 10 published peer-reviewed papers achieving more than 80 citations and presented her work in over 15 international conferences/workshops.
