Yat is a registered Therapeutic Radiographer in the United Kingdom (UK) since 2002. He completed his MSc in healthcare informatics in 2006 and received his PhD by published work in 2018. In his current role as a consultant radiographer, Yat acts both as a clinical and technical expert to lead and coordinate his institution's specialised radiotherapy service.
His memberships of UK Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR) consortium executive committee and NCRI Clinical and Translational Radiotherapy Research Working Group (CTRad) Executive Group have enabled evidence-based practice and research to be introduced into clinical practice. He is also an active member of the UK national Radiotherapy Trials Quality Assurance (RTTQA) group working in a multi-disciplinary team setting. He has designed and implemented QA programmes for clinical trials that require effective introduction of advanced radiotherapy in UK centres.
With regards to his international profile in radiotherapy, he is involved in European society for radiotherapy and oncology Radiation TherapisT (ESTRO RTT) Committee to lead and organise international radiotherapy specific projects.
