Biography

Heather Nisbet has been qualified as a Therapeutic Radiographer for over 30 years. She has worked in many different radiotherapy departments in the UK but has recently taken up a post as Regional Advancing Practice Supervision and Assessment Lead for the South East. This role focuses on facilitating the provision of high-quality supervision and assessment that underpins professional and patient safety in advanced practice across all the health care professions. She has had several different roles in radiotherapy including as an RTT practice educator with the University of Hertfordshire when she completed an MSc in Higher Professional Education. After 10 years in this role, she returned to clinical practice and worked towards becoming a Consultant Therapeutic Radiographer. She achieved accreditation with the Society of Radiographers and completed post-graduate modules in advanced practice, including non-medical prescribing. She led in the development of a team of advanced therapeutic radiographers and specialised in the management of treatment side effects and sexual care for cancer patients. Heather is passionate about supporting patients living with and beyond their cancer diagnosis and empowering health care professionals to fulfil their educational potential to provide high quality care through innovation, developing practice and re-imagining services. She has three grown up children and lives in Oxfordshire with her husband Andy and Padraig the cat.
