Biography

Started in Medical Physics at Tübingen University in 1997. The purchase of "Getting Started with C++" led to the Hyperion IMRT/VMAT/IMPT treatment planning system, which is now the optimization core in Elekta Monaco. It has also been a useful platform for all kinds of ideas in treatment optimization. I was very fortunate to get involved in early hypoxia imaging efforts in 2003 and developed dose painting strategies with Daniela Thorwarth and Claus Belka and many other colleagues in Tübingen. Later, I co-founded the software company Scientific RT, which released the Monte Carlo dose computation software SciMoCa in 2015. Had a great time at Aarhus University from 2013-2015. In 2015, I became Professor for Medical Physics at Heidelberg University, with a special interest in normal tissue radiation biology, methods of outcome analysis and Monte Carlo dose computation.
