Biography

I was born in 1979 in Zielona Góra, raised in Żary, Poland. Apart from my current job, I enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, playing piano, and trombone. But all my pleasure time is full of my beloved wife and our five children. I graduated medical studies in Poznan, Poland, in 2004. After the internship, since the very beginning of my professional development in Greater Poland Cancer Center, I was bound to the Brachytherapy Department. I devoted myself to this fantastic branch of radiation oncology. Then, I became an ESTRO member in 2005 and started my residency program at GPCC. I joined the Polish Society of Radiation Oncology and Polish Brachytherapy Society in 2007. In 2008, I started working on my Ph.D. thesis at the Poznan University of Medical Sciences under Prof. Janusz Skowronek, which I defended in 2009. I also joined ABS in 2011, the same year I passed my closing exams for radiation oncology. I have participated in many ESTRO Teaching courses, ESTRO and ABS congresses. My authored and co-authored publications are related mainly to breast, prostate, skin, and head and neck malignancies, with the addition of hyperthermia where appropriate. Aside from science, I have always put the patient in the first place. In 2014-2018, I served as head deputy of our Department, 2019-2020 acting Head, and Head since June 2020. Also, since its establishment, I was engaged as a medical consultant, author, reviewer, and supporting editor in the Journal of Contemporary Brachytherapy. In February 2019, I had unexpectedly flown the deep waters and became the Editor-in-Chief of the JCB. Every day I try to do my best to support the brachytherapy community and the brachytherapy recognition, as it’s my passion.
