Biography

Dr. Sanmamed Salgado is currently a radiation oncologist at Clinico San Carlos Hospital (Madrid) focused in genitourinary and gynecologic malignancies using VMAT, stereotactic radiotherapy and brachytherapy approaches. She completed her Medical Degree at Santiago de Compostela University, and Radiation Oncology specialty training in Valladolid, including 3 months at MD Anderson Cancer Center and University of Pennsylvania Hospital in the USA. In 2017, she moved to Toronto for 2 years with the goal of improving her clinical and research skills particularly in brachytherapy being clinical-research fellow at the Radiation Medicine Program - Princess Margaret Cancer. During this period she got an Abbvie CARO Uro-Oncologic Radiation Award and an ABS Resident Grant Award. She is an active member in European (ESTRO), Spanish (SEOR) and American (ASTRO) Society of Radiation Oncology, as well as American Brachytherapy Society. She has co-authored publications in European Urology, BJU, Brachytherapy and the main journals of his specialty: Radiotherapy&Oncology and IJROBP. At this early stage of her career, Dr. Sanmamed Salgado aims to complete her PhD, implement and advance clinical applications for MR-guided brachytherapy methods and research in her home country, Spain.
