Biography

Christian Kirisits studied Technical Physics at the Vienna University of Technology and the first phase of Human Medicine at the University of Vienna. In 2000, he received a Doctor of Technical Science degree from the Vienna University of Technology. After completing an additional thesis ('Habilitation') while also working at the Medical University of Vienna (MUW), he was appointed to Associate Professor at the MUW in 2005. His main fields of research are Medical Physics and Acoustics. Christian Kirisits is author or co-author of more than 150 peer-reviewed scientific articles in international journals and more than 10 book chapters. He has also made numerous contributions to conference proceedings, as a book editor and as a regular speaker at international and national conferences. His activities included functioning as a Coordinator of the International EMBRACE clinical trial, a Coordinator of the Committee for the International Commission on Radiation Units and Measurements (ICRU) 89 report on Gynecological Brachytherapy and Chairman of the GEC-ESTRO Brachytherapy Committee.
