Professor Jens Overgaard, MD, DMSc, FRCR is head of Department of Experimental Clinical Oncology, Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. His prime research interest is clinical and experimental radiation oncology, especially within head and neck, ocular and breast cancer. He has been a long-term board member and past-president of ESTRO (1995-97). Professor Overgaard has received more than 50 awards and honors, including The ESTRO Breur Award; The Regaud Medal; and The Pezcoller Foundation Award. He is Knight of the Order of Dannebrog (by the Queen of Denmark), and an honorary member or fellow of 9 international societies. Jens Overgaard has is currently editor-in-chief emeritus of Radiotherapy and Oncology (after 25 years as editor). The leadership of professor Overgaard include the coordination of the Danish Head and Neck Cancer Group, DAHANCA through more than 40 years. He is a executive board member of the Danish Cancer Society. He has been principal investigator of more than 40 clinical trials (including > 14.000 patients). He has supervised more than 100 completed Ph.D. theses, and been an author of 800 publications (H-index = 118, >58.000 citations).
