Biography

I was born in Castellón (Spain) in 1959, I am married and I have one daughter. I became Radiation Oncologist in Valencia in 1988. I got my M.D. in medicine on Brachytherapy in lip carcinoma. I worked as Attending Physician at the Radiation Oncology Deparment at the Institut Català d’Oncologia, Barcelona, in 1988-89, and in the Foundation Instituto Valenciano de Oncología (IVO) from 1990 to 1988. I am the Head of Brachytherapy of the IVO since 1998.\nI am a founding member of SEOR (Spanish Society of Radiation Oncology), and I have been awarded as “Honorary member” due to my “contributions to the development of Radiation Oncology in Spain”. I was coordinator of the Brachytherapy Group of SEOR for three years and co-chairman of the course “Basis and Clinical Applications in Brachytherapy” of SEOR. I am co-author of the Brachytherapy handbook (Guía de Braquiterapia) edited by SEOR in 2008.\nI am a member of the ESTRO, and of the “Breast Cancer Working Group” and “Head and neck and skin Cancer Working Group” of GEC ESTRO. I am teacher of the ESTRO course on Comprehensive and Practical Brachytherapy. \nI am president of the Asociación Viktor E. Frankl, of Valencia, and director of the program: “Helping to cope with cancer” and I have written three self-help books: “Between fear and hope. The experience of coping with cancer”, “At the end of this journey, looking for a meaning of life”, “From anguish to serenity, accompanying the patient with cancer”
