Biography

Maddalena M. G. Rossi is a (research) radiation therapist working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam (NKI-AVL). She trained as a diagnostic radiographer in the UK before moving to the Netherlands and worked in a diagnostic and nuclear medicine department before retraining to become a radiation therapist. The majority of her work was performed within various positions in the radiotherapy department. From 2004 she has had a shared position working in research and in the clinic. In 2009 she received her Master of Science in Radiation Oncology. Her research work is focused on imaging and lung cancer and as part of the lung radiotherapy research group is involved in various projects and is (co-)author in a number of publications and has presented her work at various international congresses. She played a major role together with the radiation oncologists and physicists in implementing SBRT lung treatments in the department. She is a member of the teaching faculty for the Elekta Synergy courses given in the NKI-AVL. As an active member of the RTT EORTC committee she has led organ-at-risk observer delineation studies and workshops. She is also an active member of the RTT ESTRO committee. Patient contact, performing research and being able to extend and pass on her knowledge to others plays a very important role for Maddalena in her profession as radiation therapist.
