Biography

Esther Troost is an expert in image-guided high-precision therapy and contributes to the advancing field of individualized medicine in photon- and proton-based radiotherapy. Since 2015, she is a professor for ‘Image-guided high precision radiation therapy’ at the Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus of the Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) and employed by Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus (UKD) and OncoRay – National Center for Radiation Research in Oncology in Germany. Esther Troost completed her medical training and graduations in Germany, the Netherlands as well as the UK and has become an internationally recognized expert in anatomical and functional imaging in radiotherapy with specific expertise in image-guided high-precision radiotherapy techniques. It is essence of her work to bring research findings into clinical application. Numerous publications in international high-ranking journals as well as a couple of renowned prizes, such as the ESTRO Varian Award, reflect her clinically relevant and patient-oriented research. She is chair of the Department of Radiotherapy and Radiooncology of UKD since 2019, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of TUD since 2021, and she serves a member of the ESTRO Board of Directors since 2021. Esther Troost is committed to bringing radiotherapy to a new level of accuracy and precision in individual treatments as well as to identify new fields of application. Sharing knowledge and experiences amongst colleagues and joining forces across disciplines and national borders will be the key.
