Biography

Shao Hui (Sophie) Huang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto. She is a qualified MD graduate from China, and completed her Hons BSc in Radiation Therapy at the University of Toronto / Michener Institute in 2003. Since graduation, she has worked as a radiation therapist at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (PMH) and as an internationally recognized specialist in Outcomes Analysis in head and neck cancer. She is the principal investigator in many research projects, has participated in numerous international collaborations, and has published 150+ peer-reviewed journal articles and 10+ textbook chapters. She is an editor of the UICC Manual of Clinical Oncology 9th edition, an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Oncology, and Annals of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma. She recently served as a Member of CSCO/ASCO Expert Panel Guidelines Committee for the Treatment of Nasopharyngeal Cancer. She is a frequently invited speaker at national and international meetings and has received many international and Canadian awards for her research work including Best of ASTRO, Best Poster in ESTRO and Best Research in CARO, and is a recipient of the CAMRT Welsh Memorial Lectureship Award. She has been interviewed regarding scientific issues in several Canadian National Television and News Outlet for a representing the PMH head and neck site group for public awareness and advocacy relating to head and neck cancer.
