Biography

Joline has been working as a radiation therapist for the past 15 years and has gained vast experiences in external beam techniques as well as in CT simulation and mould room procedures. Currently, she leads a team of therapists in providing excellent cancer care for breast cancer patients. She is actively involved in improvement projects in her centre; the most recent was the “Achieving highly reliable outcomes in the delivery of radiation treatments requiring deep inspiration breath hold technique for left sided breast cancers”, which won her team a merit award at the Singapore Healthcare Management 2019. Having a strong interest in research, Joline is constantly seeking for improvement in treatment technique and is leading a team to study the efficacy of Chabner Bra in the immobilisation of large pendulous breasts for breast cancer patients. A believer of education, she is a key mentor to junior radiation therapists and students on clinical attachments; offering a supervisory role in the assessment of competencies. An active member of the safety committee, Joline plays a crucial role in the department to manage safety issues and coming up with mitigation strategies to reduce future radiation incidence. Besides the strong clinical presence, since she became a principal radiation therapist, Joline is also involved in managing departmental manpower roster and organizing departmental events. She believes that it is necessary to stay current with up-to-date technologies and techniques. With this mindset, she set out to pursue higher education and attained her Master of Advanced Health Care Practice from Monash in 2016. This helped her to further develop vital skills including research skills and critical analysis assisting her in advancing in her career pathway both clinically and in healthcare management.
