Biography

Ben Vanneste is a clinician: radiation oncologist, and brachytherapist. He was teached as radiation oncology at the NKI-AvL, Amsterdam, and AMC (Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He did a fellowship brachytherapy in Gustave Roussy, in Villejuif, France. He obtained a PhD in rectum spacers (see https://cris.maastrichtuniversity.nl/portal/files/2786046/c6070.pdf ). He is chair and principal investigator of the brachytherapy and urology unit at the UZ Ghent University, and also consultant brachytherapy @ the MAASTRO (Radiation Oncology). His main research activities: Rectum-Spacing in prostate cancer, Patient Decision aids, Personalized treatments, Brachytherapy prostate cancer (LDR-HDR), Stereotactic Radiotherapy, Immunotherapy. He is co-author of more than 60 peer reviewed scientific papers. He is also involved in the teaching program for residents of radiation oncology, and in teaching transperineal procedures (spacer implantation, brachy procedures, biopsies) for radiation oncologists.
