He graduated in Medicine on 1979 and became specialist in Radiation Oncology, Radiology (1985), Oncology (1988), at Università Cattolica S.Cuore of Rome where is Full Professor of Radiotherapy and Chair of Radiology, Radiation Oncology and Hematology Department. He is Vice Scientific Director of the Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli Research Institute with delegation to Big Data. His research was focused on: the optimization of radiation treatments by using different imaging techniques for the definition of target volume, the management of pre-operative and intra-operative programs, the integration between radiotherapy and chemotherapy, namely in GI, Head & Neck, GU and Gyn cancers. He also particularly directed his interest on the computer’s application in the fields of care, research and teaching, especially in large data bases management, prediction model implementation and radiomics. He is author of more than 500 publication in peer-reviewed journal and many review articles as well as book chapters, book on the computer application in teaching and book on different neoplasms. He is member of the editorial board of different radiotherapy journals both national and international. He was ESTRO Presidents on 2011-2014.
