Controversies in locally advanced breast cancer
The symposium will cover four highly debated topics in the management of locally advanced breast cancer. First presentation will define the concept of locally advanced disease and address the strategies of the management of axilla and deintesification of locoregional treatment in selected cases. Afterwards standard therapy with photons as well as selection criteria for protontherapy and MRI-linac usage will be addressed. The third presentation will cover the therapeutic options in case of a local recurrence, stressing the importance of multidisciplinary meetings and patients’ need. Lastly, the role of radiotherapy after primary systemic therapy will be illustrated, focusing on the optimal sequencing and what to do in case of inoperable disease.
