COMPLETED PROJECTS

GENEPI Entb 1

The primary aim of GENEPI-ENTB was to create a tissue bank linked to a detailed outcome-database of a large cohort of patients receiving radiotherapy and the development of a lymphocyte tissue bank containing samples from a cohort of large kindred French families, equally linked to a database.

ENLIGHT

The European Network for LIGht ion Hadron Therapy aims at a co-ordinated effort towards ion beam research in the EU.  Expertise will be pooled to speed up development for the creation of minimum 5 therapy facilities in Europe.

QUARTS

QUARTS aims at providing health care authorities with objective criteria for infrastructure and staffing needs for RT. A quantitative analysis of demands on staff and infrastructure per tumour site and type and of a population-based hierarchy of treatment facilities, adaptable to local epidemiology and staffing costs will assist in prioritising financial resources.

ESQUIRE

The aim of this project is to increase the confidence level of clinicians for embracing optimised RT treatment regimes by making sure they can be achieved without an increase in severe side effects.

Actions proposed for this purpose: monitoring the accuracy of the dose (Task 1:EQUAL) and the side effects (Task 2: REACT), by stepping up education for the implementation of new technology (Task 3: EDRO) by developing quality assurance procedures for optimised RT (Task 4: QUASIMODO) and brachytherapy (interstitial and intracavitary treatment) (Task 5: BRAPHYQS), and establishing a procedure-based surveillance of quality in treatment and research ( Task 6: EPOQART).

ROSIS

ROSIS is short for "Radiation Oncology Safety Information System" and it is a voluntary web-based safety information database for Radiotherapy. The system is based on professional front-line staff in radiotherapy clinics reporting incidents and corrective actions over the Internet to a database.
